Tips on newsletter design & content

It is important that your newsletter has consistency in how it looks and the size/length of its content. The newsletter is linked to how your business is perceived by others, and should be professional and error free.

We recommend that once you are happy with the look of your email newsletter, that you don't change it.

It is also important to keep the number of images in your newsletter to a minimum, especially nowadays when many people check their email via their PDA or mobile phone. Images in Newsletters do not automatically download, so if you newsletter is image based, then the customer may miss your message, and be presented with a mass of red x's where your newsletter images should be. Animation, flash and JAVA do not work in a newsletter.

Timing is everything when sending out an email campaign.  Newsletters can be lost if they are sent before or after weekends and public holidays. Most of us receive many emails in our in box at this time and are more likely to delete newsletters if we have 100's of messages in our in box after a long weekend...

Your most important message should go at the top of your email newsletter, so your customer reads it first, and is enticed to read on or visit your web site. You should include links to your web site, and tell your customer what you want them to do with the information they gain from your newsletter.
